Fettes College enjoys a reputation as one of the UK’s pre-eminent co-educational boarding schools and is uniquely situated in extensive grounds and woodland close to the heart of Edinburgh. Our mission is to develop broadly educated, confident and thoughtful individuals by encouraging students to flourish and develop the skills and interests that they possess Academically our students perform excellently and our recent HMIe report praised our excellence in academics and pastoral care. In 2009, 44 students sat the IB Diploma. The top mark was a highly impressive 44 out of a possible 45. and twelve candidates achieved 40 point or more, which equates to 5 A grades at A level. For A levels, 71% achieved Grades A or B with a 100% pass rate. At GCSE, Fettes College also topped the Scottish results tables with 29% of all grades were A* with 60% being A* or A. On average 98% progress to university, including up to 15 students a year to Oxford and Cambridge. All major sports are offered with excellent outdoor and indoor facilities. A wide selection of extra-curricular activities is available to encourage the development of different skills and talents with charitable work and service within the community playing an important role in school life. Fettes seeks bright, motivated, and curious students who possess imagination, energy, a willingness to take risks, a concern for others, and a commitment to academic and personal growth. We interviews to assess the promise of each individual applicant and to determine which students will gain the most from and contribute to all that Fettes College has to offer.
